The dangers of public concern for comprehensive development
In a previous study of ours in 2005, we developed a theoretical framework on a new theory of anxiety and built a scale to determine the level of objective anxiety, motivation and neuroticism to know at what level anxiety is normal and is a necessity of life, when this anxiety is a motive for achievement, creativity and innovation, and at what level is it neurotic, distracts thought and be Obstacle to the continuation of life in a normal way that contributes to development in a natural way.
We defined anxiety as a state of painful emotional tension resulting from internal or external painful experiences and events caused by the environment, expressed in abnormal emotional behavior in order to control the situation and relieve tension.
Accordingly, we concluded that the natural anxiety about a situation is eliminated by the demise of the situation that causes it, such as anxiety about health or academic success or any matter of ordinary life, and in this case anxiety does not exceed the minimum limits as degrees on the scale, but if it exceeds these limits for some and does not It reaches the limits of neurotic anxiety. Based on field experiments, we interpreted this as a motive anxiety that pushes its owner to more achievement, creativity and innovation, whether this is in the scientific or literary field. It is an incentive for success and overcoming difficulties. This level of anxiety is personal and cannot be considered a general concern because it does not exceed A particular person or group of people within the limits of space and time resulting in painful experiences, and states should search for these individuals in every field of life because they have energies. and increase the national income.
As for the feeling of anxiety as a result of panic and excessive alarm about public affairs and the country’s exposure to wars, terrorism, severe economic and political crises, natural disasters, poverty, the absence of social justice, low standards of living, and lack of control over markets, anxiety is common and common among the individuals of those countries, which has negative effects that may affect development and the general behaviour.
In view of the crises our Arab world is going through in Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, Algeria and other countries in the Arab world, these crises have cast a shadow over the mental health of all Arab citizens in those countries. Feeling anxious about the future has become unnatural, such as the fear of losing life because of Terrorism, hunger, poverty, water shortages, low public services provided to citizens in the field of health, education, unemployment, and the failure to open channels of communication between citizens and the ruling authorities in those countries to listen to their suffering, all of this led to the occurrence of this phenomenon that, if suppressed for long periods, would turn into time bombs that will explode in Any moment, and this is illustrated by the emotional aspect of anxiety, which turns normal behavior into unwanted behavior that can destroy the person himself or those around him.
Therefore, whoever is in charge of making the decision must take this into account and know that this concern hinders the development process, and that these countries take into account the living conditions of citizens and provide goods and services at prices that are accessible to everyone to alleviate this concern and not raise its level to a higher level. Precious to extremist ideas and terrorism.
Accordingly, a vision must be taken to take many necessary measures to alleviate this feeling of anxiety among the vast majority of Arab peoples, and at least provide the minimum level of security and safety for all citizens so that we do not return to the eras of deterioration and backwardness because we did not rely on the results of scientific research in making any decision regarding The psychological aspect of the Arab citizen, which is the cornerstone of any future development that we aspire to reach.
