My greatest friend is rain and my poem is addicted to riding a train

The interview was conducted by Dr. Mohamed Dabasha

Poetry is a promising spirit that draws inspiration from love, longing and ambition from the world of imagination and brings the recipient to valleys of magnificence and the launch to a better life, and it is also the tongue of the Arabs and the memory of the nation chants loudly sometimes and at other times silently suppressed, and in this dialogue space we travel our dear readers to a private world full of splendor and beauty of the soul And the creation of the pen for one of the Arab poets, so let us, in the beginning, invite the Palestinian poet and thinker Rushdie the past, and ask him the first question

Q1: Who is the Palestinian poet and thinker Rushdie Al-Madi from his birth point and his scientific and literary biography?

C 1- .. I am the last Rushdie, whose birthplace Haifa was the Mermaid, and the destroyed village of Ijzim was the original, where the family of the past lived, which was known as the "Kings of the Coast" ... and I finished my primary, secondary and university studies in Haifa, specializing in Arabic Language and History ...

I worked in the education sector for nearly 40 years, in elementary schools, middle and high school, as a teacher, educator, deputy director and general director of "Al-Mutanabi" school in Haifa ...

This, and I went out at the end of the last century to early retirement to devote myself to "my poem" and to cultural activity, voluntarily, in our cultural institutions inside and outside my city Haifa, and this I continue to do until these days ... This I must add: I hold the Jerusalem Prize for Culture From the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, the title of Humanity Sa'ar from the Poetry Academy in Italy ... and an honorary doctorate degree from the Palestinian Higher Cultural Foundation. My poems have been translated into English, French, Italian, Romanian and Hebrew.

Q2- Like other poets, you must have beginnings on the path of literature and the luminous word. When and where was your first poetry experience?

C .. 2- My brother and poet Dr. Muhammad ... I and my poem are Siamese twins, we come to us without an appointment and without waiting, and each of us takes from the end what he wants ... But if I want to set a beginning for it, I go back to the middle of the sixties of the last century, When I started publishing my poems at that time in the newspapers and magazines that were published, in particular: "Al-Ittihad", "Al-Marsad" and "Al-Anbaa" ... Of course, this is in addition to my participation in poetry seminars and festivals that were held and held in various Arab cities and villages throughout All over the country, which made the “rhetorical poem” topped our poetic scene for several years, along with it side by side with the “ceremonial poem” ..

Q3- Each poet has a vocabulary from which he weaves his letters, so what are the vocabulary of poetry you have?

C .. 3- Poetry, my brother, is another aspect of man’s eternal questions about life… and his writing a “poem” is practiced within a logic and within a language, preoccupied with itself, erasing and obscuring more of what it reveals and reveals, so the word comes without having a specific, known meaning, and becomes the result. A "vessel" preserves the meaning through a relationship that arises between the words, and the relationship between a word and a word becomes infinite, and the meaning in the result also becomes infinite ... Thus the writing becomes an open event to the possible and the possible, and if you want a singularity that dominates the fabric of my vocabulary, I mention to you "the legend" as a text that squeezes It is within him of all times, but you can keep it conditional on your historical moment that you live as a poet these days, because "the legend" is a history of immigration, not residence ... so that ideas continue to be generated in the foreground of travel ... I am my brother, my greatest friend: rain, and my poem addicted to riding the train ...

Q4- It is said that some poets write their poems and others write the poem. So, who are you? How did you generate your poem?

A ... 4- Let me here, my dear poet, I say it aloud: I and my poem suddenly came to birth and attendance ... we come together in a quiet astonishment ... a movement and poetic energy that starts from the self, and from it it passes out, declines, dives, penetrates, not to be produced The signs, but the symbols, and because she is aware that time is one great mystery, and an unknown land of the current moment, she gives her lovers the keys to this mystery ...

After she poses to them the crucial questions that concern man and his relationship with the world ... and after she finishes her journey, she returns again to me, to the “self” where it is stored there… TPurified and pure, so that they do not lose sight of the open gates of heaven ... my poem ... derives the meaning of its great homeland from a tapestry that tends to free homelands that do not call for geography ... it is a dialogue with a poetic homeland that engages with other nations that sow dreams and peace to grow ears of love that rain its land in lush mornings

Q7- Every poet has a poem that is closest to himself, so do you have a poem of this type?

A .. 7- Every poem in my decade of creativity is the most sincere companionship, because with beauty I see each one separately..so if my brother happens, and I am placed in “the paradise of poetry”, you will hear me shout, saying: Oh my poem, my mother !! Every poem to me is a green room in the architecture of the heart and poetry as its ceiling, so how can I, when I return to my home in my heart, not visit it room by room !!!

Q8- Has poetry been able to change the course of events in the Arab reality, especially in resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict, poverty, terrorism, and economic problems that Arabs suffer from, or are the poets still living in ivory towers that do not see or hear the sound of the bitter reality?

C .. 8- In my humble opinion, my poet, Dr. Muhammad ... it is necessary not to see the poem as “an employee in the change project ...” so as not to touch her birth a free poem that stores enormous energy and has an aesthetic character with the ability to arouse pleasure and quiet surprise. Here is what the thinker Dr. E. Lawrence: “Time is one great mystery,” and it is an unknown land at the present moment ... so the poem comes to give a clue to this mystery ... the poem, my brother, is aware to the core that the relationship of the individual to the impact is a dramatic relationship ... so what you do is not strive to be She changes this reality directly, but offers him her point of view on this reality to form in front of him the other side of his questions as a human being about life ... I mean, his fateful questions related to his relationship with the time he lives ... to make him able in result, through continuous research and experimentation, to dislocate what is existing And replace it with what he deems appropriate ...

Q9- Does the poet Rushdi Al-Mady believe that poetry is an inspiration from God, and does love of the homeland have a place in your poetry?

A .. 9- I and my poem, sir ... we see everything in existence as a poem from God ... a divine poetry ... it is present in everything I write without telling it any philosophical question !!! I cry with the morning of my city when we see a bird shivering, and in the land of the torturers I travel at the top ... and in the hybrid darkness that looms over the moon ... and in front of the thirsty lips that accompany the rain. We are two, we grow up on the backs of our horses ... legitimate legitimate dreams. ... so that blood does not rust for us, because it is sparks in the wind that become words like rainbow birds we will shade to others the history and the story ... you know their mouths even in the streets of flame ... you know him a word not to cry, but to sing ... to sing a future whose mouth is full of poetry and the kingdom of a miracle ...

Q10- Was the Israeli occupation of Palestine a role in your direction to poetry, or was it a stumbling block in your literary career?

A ... 10- May God forgive you, brother !!! Do you want me to open the door with my hand and enter a "minefield" !!! I do not have hope or eat a day of work to make friends ... my brother “al-Qasida” will remain a bride outside the night of the sabaya ... and she chooses the “groom” whom she wants to write and write, the distance between me and my sisters and creative brothers will continue to let light come out of me and then come back From them to me.

Q11- In the end, I ask you about the poets of the current era who deserve the title of poet, and what are the characteristics of your unique emotions?

A .. 11- Every poem my brother writes by a creator, in the language and style he envisages, is for me a land of creativity rippling with the spirit and fire of beauty and holiness ... he squeezed in it all inside him, even intoxicated ... so that Naharat would come out of jasmine and oleander to remain a permanent resident in the city of poetry ... all the poets my brothers whom my mother did not give birth to, and all their poems are my sons and daughters who accompany me on my travels between words.

All thanks and appreciation to you for this pleasant meeting, wishing you more brilliance and creativity in your literary career.
