Fadwa Attia from Egypt writes about
Our dialogue remains in the Abu al-Funoun Theater, as we know, because of its importance. For us, the Egyptian theater in our present time has been presenting plays by Salah Abdel Sabour and Naguib Sorour since the sixties. Otherwise, the theater would have had to be presented in its new concert, so that there would remain a theater from the past present in the present. This becomes the history of Egyptian theater as an extension of what came before from different previous civilizations, and we began to search for what we present in terms of fine art on our stages in Egypt, so we decided to use our own identity, and topics were presented in that, various social issues related to Egyptian society,Egyptian theater became its own splendor in Egypt, and its development was remarkably significant.
At that time, our theaters began presenting many social topics related to Egyptian society and its issues and concerns.
Egyptian theater began to truly take shape and there began to be a theater that presented frameworks and scenes that could be discussed.
There has been development in our Egyptian theater until we have reached our current era. The question is: Do we still need more and more to develop the theatrical performances we want to present?
Yes, we need development to keep pace with the current era. What has happened in our current era of technology in technology every day is new and artificial intelligence is treated with art, word and other things, makes us contemplate a lot and wonder?
Could this be art?
It has its advantages and has its impact. For example, when we rely on artificial intelligence to ask questions so that we have an image that makes it very beautiful, has there been a loss of creativity? Perhaps we do not miss it, so we must now forget about the live creativity of the direct artist in all the arts and their various fields of theater, cinema, and real plastic arts. other,
To reach this current era, it has a different ideology. Our whole era, every new day, is different from us, and for this we always need true creativity, and art is true to it.
In addition, we should not ignore modernity to reduce the mechanisms of reception and the various means that the honest artist took advantage of, to reach the audience, expressing his true sense of what is possible for himself, bringing us to a never-ending state of contemplation of the various arts. How effective this is for us to ignore the role of heritage and inheritance from the various civilizations that have passed through us in the past. Egypt, Egypt is the mother of the world. There, the visual, thought and awareness recorded the story and the cultural situation that keeps us in continuous pursuit.
Therefore, there must be identity with authenticity and modernity, which is the basis, as I mentioned previously in my articles. For whoever has no history has no future, and thus art becomes its own specificity through this identity with originality and modernity. This is what made me put forward this thesis: the artist must continue even if he becomes frustrated or bored in a moment. What, and it should never stop. True, honest art never dies, but rather lives on even after the death of the artist. How many artists whose art lived after their death and who did not have much luck in their lives, and how many artists whose paintings were sold for millions of dollars while they were alive did not enjoy that money. True, honest art remains. Indeed, history is writing it, and we need this real, serious art in our current time, and I have called for it many times throughout my life, that the true, honest artist is patient without getting tired, even if in moments they have a moment of frustration, distress, or sadness. We are all exposed to those moments and difficulties in our lives and our art, butContinue with art tirelessly, even if in the beginning you lose financially, but after fatigue and misery, even if it takes you years, but believe me, true, serious art will arrive, by God’s command.
We all went through difficult moments in order for our art to reach people, but the moment of success after fatigue has a different taste.
This is why, as I said before, we must realize the identity with originality and modernity in all the arts presented on our Egyptian theater and on the Arab theater in general, in order to present that to the whole world.
Real, serious, honest art will continue to be the light of our lives, because sincere, serious art that presents a message is like a candle that lights all of our lives, and I will continue to call for that in my articles constantly, just as I called for it in my initiative, Fadwa Attia for Art and Free Voluntary Life, which I founded from my own pocket, out of my belief in my role as an artist and critic who has a role. In Egyptian society and the whole world. We will continue with our art and our identity until death, and we will have another conversation to continue our discussion with love and art.
